The Metaphorical Perceptions of Teacher Candidates on the Concept of Spelling

This research aims to determine teacher candidates’ perceptions of the concept spelling through metaphors. Phenomenology design, one qualitative designs, was used in research. The easily accessible sampling method, which is purposive methods, form study group participants are 88 candidates studying at a university Turkey. In research, opinions on metaphors, “spelling … similar/like to; because…” were provided fill blanks open-ended question with metaphor they wanted. Content analysis obtained data. As result it determined that 74 metaphors 9 categories produced by candidates. findings from spelling; defined as rules ensure effective, correct, and beautiful use language, enable be understood, facilitate narration, eliminate confusion concepts, must followed according certain standard writing. concluded positive their awareness levels high. addition, expressed systematic, regular, harmonious composition adds color flavor life, develops intelligence memory, emerges regular studies.
